Experience Roman Kerkrade on foot

On Sunday, 14 June 2026, no fewer than 13 new walking routes will be launched through the beautiful South Limburg landscape. And you have the unique opportunity to be among the first to join a special walk through beautiful Kerkrade.

Enjoy a 6.5 km walk accompanied by an experienced IVN guide, with attention to both nature and history. Along the way, the Roman past comes to life: through the VIA VIA–Via Belgica app, the Roman singer Caecilia takes you on fascinating audio stories about life in Roman Kerkrade.

As if that were not enough, you will even meet real Romans along the way, who will surprise you with a story or a small tasting. And afterwards? You will be warmly treated to coffee and cake.

Practical information

• Please arrive 30 minutes before the start of the walk at the yellow Via Belgica information stand at the entrance gate of Rolduc Abbey. From here, a shuttle will take you to the starting point of the walk (Brasserie Nieuw Ehrenstein). After the walk, the shuttle will take you back to Rolduc Abbey.
