ENTREPRENEURS | Love hidden inside a chocolate jug 🍫❤️
Can you taste a love story that began almost 2,000 years ago? Ronald Stoot and Eric van Veggel of the Delicious Store prove that you can. Inspired by the famous Jug of Love of Lucius, they created a unique chocolate praline. During archaeological excavations at Tempsplein in Heerlen, a Roman jug was discovered, made by the potter Lucius for his beloved Amaka. Inscribed with a heartfelt message, this remarkable find inspired a regional delicacy with a true Heerlen identity.
The Jug of Love of Lucius is available in dark, milk or white Belgian Callebaut chocolate, filled with a smooth hazelnut praline. Its shape reflects the original Roman jug, while the heart embossed on the chocolate symbolises the love between Lucius and Amaka. Every bite combines exceptional Belgian chocolate with a piece of Heerlen's Roman past.
With this special creation, Ronald and Eric hope to celebrate Heerlen's rich heritage while giving the city its own iconic regional delicacy. Curious to taste the Jug of Love of Lucius? Visit the Delicious Store on Saroleastraat and discover why Heerlen proudly calls itself the City of Love of the Netherlands.

VIA VIA ENTREPRENEUR – Via Belgica Romana Ice Cream
Mario Vanoppen is an entrepreneur through and through. In Vroenhoven and Rekem, he has already won over many customers with his delicious ice cream creations. Now you can also enjoy his artisan ice cream on the market square of Tongeren, with a view of the beautiful basilica and just a stone’s throw from the Gallo-Romeins Museum.
Why VIA VIA?
“When I first heard about the VIA VIA project, my creative mind immediately started racing. What did the Romans enjoy eating? Did they already have sugar? No — honey. And what herbs did they use? What kind of milk and fruits? After many questions, I finally knew it: Via Belgica Romana ice cream.”

ENTREPRENEUR – Tungri Gold
Davy Daniëls grew up surrounded by soft drinks and beers in his parents’ beverage business. That is where his love for beer began. At the age of 21, he stepped into the real world of brewing. Today, his passion has resulted in a Roman-inspired beer: “Tungri Gold”.
Why “Tungri Gold”?
“Well, Tongeren is the Roman city par excellence. We simply had to do something with that heritage. Through the contacts with VIA VIA and a trade fair where I met the beekeeper De Kevi, the idea of working with honey emerged — the sweetness of the Romans. We experimented with the amount of hops and combined it with the local honey from ‘De Kevi’. That makes ‘Tungri Gold’ softer, slightly sweeter and exceptionally easy to drink.”

ENTREPRENEURS – “It’s all about the experience, and that is incredibly important.”
The remains in the cellar of Hotel Derlon in Maastricht, together with the Roman bathhouse in Heerlen, are the crown jewels of Roman South Limburg. And it was precisely there that the first workshop for entrepreneurs was held. This was followed by inspiring gatherings at Centre Charlemagne in Aachen and the Gallo-Romeins Museum in Tongeren.
At the invitation of the VIA VIA project, the central question was how entrepreneurs can connect with the growing interest in the Roman history of the Euregio.
