Ciao Tongeren

Ciao Tongeren is an annual event in the heart of Tongeren. Every first Sunday in May, Tongeren’s city centre is bathed in a delightful Italian atmosphere. The Grote Markt and the surrounding squares are transformed into a little piece of Italy, with authentic Italian market stalls, delicious food and drink, live music and southern conviviality. With this event, Tongeren seizes the opportunity to strengthen its ties with its Roman past. Local traders also take part: the shops are open on that day and contribute to the lively atmosphere.
